GPS@Work - Asset & Employee Management

The Typical Scenario at Work:

Today, my company is putting out a new policy for everyone with a company cell phone - they have enabled GPS tracking for all drivers, managers and outside salesmen. The GPS positions of all employees will now be monitored by both the dispatch department and senior management.

Now you’ll get to hear or maybe you’ll start all of the discussions about personal freedoms, privacy, and the employer/employee trust relationship.

Uses for GPS Data in the Everyday World

I imagine that a lot of people use their GPS for the sole purpose of navigating large cities, long road trips or even just for entertainment but there are a lot of other things that this information can be used for.

Although some of these suggestions may not be related to how I personally use a GPS they can serve as a starting point for ideas on how to use the valuable information collected by these devices. (more…)
