Understanding and Getting Better GPS Precision

Most consumer GPS devices these days will advertise that they have an accuracy of about 2 meters (6 feet), but if you’ve ever imported your position and compared it to a known location you’ll quickly realize that your data collection is not the stated accuracy of your device all of the time.

There are a couple of settings on most devices that you can adjust which will allow you to collect more accurate data. You can usually set your device precision by telling it to throw away or ignore information that is not within a user-set range of accuracy. (more…)

I really don’t have the need to do this real-time tracking on Google Earth, but it would probably be fun to play around with for an hour or two. I’m totally satisfied with importing my data and storing it for later use. (more…)

Trimble Juno ST - Pro GPS With Amature Price

JunoSTI’ve had my Trimble Juno ST for about 4 months now and I’m really impressed by the features it has.

I use it in a professional environment to help me perform some of the tasks associated with my work.

Trimble has been in the world of positional and field measuring hardware for a long time and has a reputation of being some of the most durable and accurate hardware used in this market. (more…)
